View allWhat is AI bookkeeping?
AI bookkeeping uses software to handle the repetitive first pass of bookkeeping work. It reads the details of each transaction in a batch, such as the description and amount, and proposes a category from the client's chart of accounts.
The accountant or bookkeeper stays responsible for the result. They review the suggestions, correct anything that is wrong and confirm the batch before anything is exported. The software does the sorting; the professional makes the decisions.
Temvik applies this to AI transaction categorisation for firms that process regular client batches.
How AI bookkeeping software works in Temvik
Upload, analyse, review the exceptions, confirm, export.
Upload transactions
Import a CSV export or a text-based bank statement PDF for the client you are working on.
Temvik analyses and suggests
Each transaction is analysed and matched to a category from your chart of accounts.
Confidence scores prioritise review
Every suggestion carries a confidence score so you can go straight to the exceptions.
Review, confirm and export
Correct anything that needs changing, confirm the batch and export it to your accounting software.
AI Categorisation
Review low-confidence transactions
AI categorises transactions using confidence scores so you only review exceptions before export.

Bookkeeping automation software
What Temvik automates
AI bookkeeping for accountants and bookkeepers, built around a review step you control. See how AI transaction categorisation works in more detail, or read our guide to AI bookkeeping tools for accountants.
A first pass on every line
Every transaction in an uploaded batch receives a suggested category, so you start from a draft rather than a blank ledger. Suggestions are drawn from the client's chart of accounts, and corrections you confirm on export can be reused as learned rules for that connection.
Confidence-based review
Each suggestion carries a confidence score. You set the threshold for each workspace, and anything below it is flagged so you can filter straight to the lines that need a decision. Set it to review everything if you prefer.
Mapped to the accounts you use
When an accounting platform is connected, Temvik imports its chart of accounts and matches categories to those accounts. Without a connection, a Xero-aligned UK chart of accounts helps suggest account codes where one is missing.
Multi-client by design
Each client has its own workspace, so categories, connections and batches stay separate. A practice can move between clients from one dashboard without mixing data.
See Temvik plans and pricing, how we handle your data, or book a demo.
Works with Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and FreshBooks
Connect the client's accounting software and Temvik posts confirmed transactions to it directly. Only reviewed lines are sent, and the batch is recorded as exported so it is not sent twice by mistake.
Xero
Connect a Xero organisation and Temvik imports its accounts. Confirmed transactions are posted to Xero from the review screen.
QuickBooks
Connect QuickBooks Online and choose the bank account. Money out is posted as expense entries and money in as deposits, matched to your QuickBooks accounts.
Sage
Connect a Sage business and choose the bank account. Confirmed transactions are posted as other payments and other receipts against the matched ledger accounts.
FreshBooks
Connect a FreshBooks business and choose the bank account. Money out is posted as expenses against matching expense categories; lines with no matching category are skipped and reported back to you.
No connection? Download a CSV
You can export any reviewed batch as a CSV instead, in a general layout or formatted for Xero or QuickBooks import, and bring it into your accounting software yourself.Built for UK accounting and bookkeeping practices
Temvik works for firms anywhere, with defaults that suit UK practices.
GBP by default
Workspaces default to pounds sterling, and plans are priced in GBP.
UK chart of accounts
A Xero-aligned UK chart of accounts is used to suggest account codes when a category has none.
Practice workflow
A separate workspace for each client, managed from one dashboard.
Review before export
Nothing reaches Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreshBooks until you confirm the batch.
Who Temvik is for
AI bookkeeping software for accountants and accounting firms
Firms handling many clients spend a lot of time coding the same kinds of transactions again and again. Temvik gives each batch a first-pass categorisation, so the team starts from a draft rather than from scratch.
Reviewers focus on the flagged lines, correct the exceptions and confirm. Professional judgement stays with the accountant, and each client's work stays in its own workspace.
AI bookkeeping software for bookkeepers
If you process regular bank transaction batches for several clients, Temvik takes the repetitive categorisation off your plate. Upload a CSV or text-based bank statement PDF and every line arrives with a suggested category.
Check the suggestions, fix what is wrong and export to the client's accounting software. You decide what is right; Temvik just does the first pass.
AI bookkeeping software FAQs
What is AI bookkeeping software?
AI bookkeeping software uses machine learning to do the repetitive parts of bookkeeping — most commonly reading transaction data and proposing a category for each line — so a bookkeeper reviews and approves the work instead of coding every transaction by hand.
What does Temvik do?
Temvik takes transactions you upload, suggests a category for each one with a confidence score, lets you review and correct them, and then exports the confirmed batch to Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreshBooks.
How does Temvik categorise transactions?
Transactions are analysed and matched against your chart of accounts. Where a platform is connected, its accounts are imported so suggestions use the categories you already work with, and each suggestion is returned with a confidence score.
Can I review AI suggestions before exporting?
Yes. Review is a required step. You see every suggested category and its confidence score, change anything you disagree with, and only then confirm the batch for export.
Who is Temvik designed for?
Accounting and bookkeeping firms handling books for multiple clients, and finance teams that process regular batches of bank transactions. Each client gets its own workspace.
Which accounting platforms does Temvik support?
Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and FreshBooks are available today. You can see the current list on the integrations page.
Can Temvik process CSV files?
Yes. CSV exports from a bank or accounting platform are the primary import format.
Can Temvik process bank statement PDFs?
Text-based bank statement PDFs are supported. Scanned or image-only PDFs cannot be read, because there is no text layer to extract.
Does Temvik work for UK accounting and bookkeeping practices?
Yes. Workspaces default to GBP, account-code suggestions use a Xero-aligned UK chart of accounts, and each client has its own workspace so a practice can manage many clients from one dashboard. Exports go to Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreshBooks after review. Temvik is not limited to UK firms.
What does Temvik's confidence score mean?
It is the AI's own indication of how certain it is about a suggested category, shown as a percentage on each line. It is a guide for prioritising review, not a guarantee of accuracy. Lines below the threshold you set for the workspace are flagged, and lines categorised by a learned rule from your own earlier corrections show 100%.
Does Temvik replace a bookkeeper?
No. It removes repetitive categorisation work and puts the exceptions in front of you. A person still reviews, corrects and confirms every batch before it is exported.
